The document is dated March 30, 1776, and signed on the reverse by John Lester, who has received the payment for Huntington......BENJAMIN HUNTINGTON [1736-1800] was a King's Attorney and later served in the Continental Congress and represented Connecticut in the first United States Congress.....JOHN LESTER [1740-1781] was a resident of the New London area, and was one of the defenders of Fort Griswold in nearby Groton when it was attacked by British forces.
