1782, Revolutionary War, payment note, Ashur Hickox, John Lawrence signed

Description

This is an, original document dated 1782, a pay order from the Revolutionary War Treasury office to Ashur Hickox, a soldier in the Contintental Line, signed at bottom right by treasurer John Lawrence and on back showing interest payments. Document is 4x8, toned, minor faults, hand sewn separation, else in overall very good condition.
Capt. John Lawrence (1719-1802) was treasurer of the Colony and later the State of Connecticut from 1769 - 1789. During the war he was commissioner of loans for the new nation.
