Description

Very rare and original New York State militia document signed by then governor John Jay. Commission of Isaac Goodsell to Lieutenant in the NYS militia. Signed by John Jay and also Secretary Daniel Hale on the 30th day of April 1800. Researching a bit, I believe I found some records for Isaac Goodsell of Dutchess County, NY - he was born in 1763 and served at a young age in the Revolutionary War; by 1795 he was living in Dover Plains, Dutchess Co., New York.. married in 1808 and died in 1844.
Document is framed behind glass and appears to be in very good antique condition, with some vertical folds. I have not removed it to check what writing, if any, could be on the back of the document.
Dimensions of the frame: Approximately 18" x 13".
Dimensions of document: Approximately 14.75" x 9.75".
Included: Fragile packed, boxed and insured Priority Mail shipping.
