The Queen Ka'ahumanu
Queen Ka'ahumanu was the favorite wife of King Kamehameha I.
After his death in 1819, Ka'ahumanu and Liholiho (Kamehameha II)
abolished the Kapu System,
about 6
months before the first missionaries arrived in the Islands.
This engraving is from a Spanish translated volume,
so some of the engravings have a Spanish sub-caption below the normal one, like this one has.
These are far scarcer than the normal French type.
plate size is smaller at 8-1/4" by 5"
blank backed
very detailed
may have light creases, wear, staining, foxing, edge nicks,
fading, etc. from 186 years of age.
This rare piece of Hawaiian history would look great framed!
