1872 & 1915 Rules for Teachers
While these rules have been floating around for decades and have actually found a home in some local museums, there is no confirmation of their authenticity as they supposedly originated in a wide variety of places. We, therefore, decided to have a little fun with them. Our 1915 list of rules is signed by the headmistress of the fictional Pennington Institute for Young Ladies and is dated 1915 at the bottom. The 1872 list of rules is signed by the headmaster of the fictional Underwood Academy for Young Women and is dated 1872 at the bottom. We are happy to customize the rules by changing the name of the headmaster/mistress and the schools at no additional charge. Just include the changes in the remarks section of your PayPal payment. We can also change the photo on the 1915 rules poster. Or enjoy the posters as they are.
This poster measures 8-1/2 x 11 inches and is hand-aged to give the poster an authentic old look and feel. Don't confuse our posters with those that are simply printed on commercial parchment paper. Scroll down to read why we don't use parchment.
Important Shipping Information:
8-1/2x11 and 8-1/2x14 inch posters are shipped flat. 11x14 and 11x17 inch posters are shipped rolled and tubed. All posters are shipped via First Class Mail with USPS Tracking. Packages that amount to or more of retail value will automatically ship via Priority Mail at no additional cost to the buyer. If you are purchasing multiple sizes, your order may ship in more than one package. Only individual packages with a retail value of or more will be upgraded to Priority Mail. Information for Our International Customers
1. We use eBay's Global Shipping program to get your order to you. This means we ship it to eBay and eBay forwards it to you. We do not collect any of the shipping fees. Those fees are set and collected by eBay and include import charges and fees. You will receive an international tracking number directly from eBay.
2. International shipping is expensive, so please use the shopping cart if you are purchasing multiple items. If you want to purchase more than just a few items or the shopping cart doesn't work for you, contact us and we will set up a custom listing. This will ensure you get the best quantity pricing and the most accurate weight total.

We Can Personalize or Customize Your Poster
Unlike some poster sellers, we actually lay out and print all our posters. Some sellers are actually selling scanned copies of our posters! Since our posters are not just scanned copies, we can easily and quickly make minor changes to customize or personalize your poster(s). Common changes include names of cities or establishments. Most changes can be made at no additional charge. Just include the change in the note section when you order.
Note that extensive changes may incur additional costs, but we will always tell you up front what they are and we will set up a custom listing. If your changes go beyond something like a simple name change, please contact us prior to ordering.
Why We Don't Use "Parchment" Paper
We are sometimes asked why we don't print our posters on parchment paper. The main reason is the fact that it is not historically accurate. True parchment paper was out of common use by the end of the Middle Ages. Even centuries old Gutenberg bibles were mostly printed on paper. Parchment would never have been used in the 19th or 20th centuries for something as everyday and mundane as a wanted poster, advertisement, or notice.
Of course, even those poster vendors who print their posters on parchment aren't using actual parchment which is made from animal hide and quite expensive. Those vendors print their posters on a paper with a pattern that somewhat resembles real parchment. This allows those vendors to mass produce their posters very quickly and cheaply. Good for them, but not so good for the customer because they still don't have the authentic aged look that most customers are looking for.
Our posters are printed on 20 lb paper using a printer that produces a matte print. Each poster then goes through our multi-step aging process that results in the most realistic looking posters available.
