) A light rain and the rainbow are a sign of good luck in the Hawaiian culture. Ironically this was between sets as the 25 foot surf was beginning to show up after traveling thousands of miles across the Pacific ocean. It was recently used in the TV series Hawaii 50 as background art. This photo when framed nicely retails for 0-450+.
It would make a great birthday or holiday gift for someone who likes this area or scenic images of Hawaii. They are popular reasonably priced decorations for restaurants, offices, homes, or stores where people can see them.
Waimea Bay is home to one of the largest surf breaks in the world and Waimea shorebreak waves are some of the most powerful on earth, generated by far distant North Pacific Ocean storms during the winter months (Sept-March). They are an incredible example of the ocean's mightiness. Native Hawaiians, surfers, and a lot of oriental people consider these magnificent waves to be a supreme example of power and manifested with the spirit of mother nature. To actually see these waves breaking along the shoreline is an awesome and unforgettable experience. During the winter large surf often breaks so hard that you can feel the beach vibrate as they pound the shoreline. This photo was taken between swells as the surf was beginning to rise to forty feet later on during the day.
