About the artist:
Ted Mundorff was born in 1910 and traveled as a child to Hawaii where he attended a private school in Honolulu. Upon graduation, he returned to the mainland and was employed by Ford Motor Company in Detroit painting cars.
He eventually moved to Los Angeles, where he designed greeting cards for Hallmark. He returned to Hawaii in 1936 and started a career as painter, illustrator, and cartoonist, ultimately opening his "Hawaiian Pallet" studio in Honolulu.
Through experience Mr. Mundorff perfected the then new and revolutionary airbrush technique to achieve beautiful soft blends and tonal shading that the medium became known for and is still highly desired today. He applied his talent to illustrating the stunning flowers of the Hawaiian islands.
