Flying Boat at a dock in Honolulu, Hawaii, late 1930's. This is one of the better photos we've ever seen of this aircraft and would look nice on a wall. It is shrink wrapped to protect it from damage and has preservation tips included in the label on the back. The commercial flights later landed at Keehi Lagoon, near Lagoon Drive which later became the site of the first Honolulu 'John Rogers' Airport.
It would make a great birthday or holiday gift for someone who likes aircraft, flying boats, or historic aviation images of Hawaii. They are popular reasonably priced decorations for restaurants, offices, homes, or stores where people can see them.
Our original lithographic, silver halide, and giclee photos are very popular and affordable to local people and tourists visiting Hawaii, as well as people who have never visited Hawaii. We're proud to mention that many of our photos were used as background artwork in the new CBS television network series "Magnum P.I." and "Hawaii 5-0". The original print was the 'old style' traditional film based image printed using an enlarger from a negative on real photographic paper and archivally processed by hand, not by a machine. Then it was digitally corrected and transferred to the long lasting lithographic process.

This photo is printed on glossy surface paper with a UV coating, and the photo offered has more gray tones, deep, richer blacks, less contrast, and has the unique look of a black and white print, which has a different tonal range and brightness than you may see on your individual computer screen. It is printed on 8x10 inch paper from a copy negative and margins may be slightly trimmed. **When it is cropped and attached to the single mat 8x10" backing board you will be able to see the backing board around the white margins of the print. It makes the print look like there is a wide margin around the edges of the photo which you can see here.
Prints are permanently mounted to the acid free backing board using archival photo adhesive and cannot easily be removed from the backing board without damaging the photo. An 11x14 inch frame (or larger) with a custom cut mat from a frame shop or art store is the suggested way to display this photo. If you want to use a larger frame and mat and you can't find an experienced framer who knows how to do it, contact us and we can provide information explaining how it can be done. This is recommended for best visual and artistic impact in displaying this photo, although many people are happy using a standard 8x10" frame and displaying the image as is.
