Description
This is a beautiful quality shrink wrapped (you can slightly see the plastic covering in the sample) copyrighted giclee photo on an 8x10" black mat of an original black and white photo that was hand colored by artist Malia McNamara and copied onto a 35mm Velvia transparency by longtime Hawaii professional surfing photographer Bill Romerhaus with caption, history, and photography information on a label on the back of the historic Haleiwa Theatre, which was a land mark in the town, and was torn down in 1984 amid public protest. The original was a black and white print taken in 1981 (it is also available in our other items) and it was hand colored by an artist, then copied onto transparency film, then scanned into digital format. It was printed on Epson® Premium photo paper with archival ink, cropped, and mounted on an 8x10 inch black backing board **with a wide black border as part of the print that you can see here (see photo).
It has photography preservation tips and more detailed caption information included in the label on the back.
Please note:
it is also a little grainy as it was copied on 35mm transparency film from an original hand colored black and white print print. It is still a very nice historic and artistic photo and looks more like a painting than a photo.
This is one of our more popular photos at point of purchase displays in Hawaii and was featured in an award winning photo article in Aloha magazine. It is also featured in our twice award winning photo history book "Haleiwa: A Pictorial History" available at our e-Bay store. We're proud to mention that many of our photos including this one were used as background artwork in the new CBS television network series "Hawaii 5-0.
It would make a great birthday or holiday gift for someone who may have went to the movies there, likes this area, or historic building images of Hawaii. They are popular reasonably priced decorations for restaurants, offices, homes, or stores where people can see them.
Our original photos are very popular and affordable to local people and tourists visiting Hawaii, as well as people who have never visited Hawaii. Prices are less than you would pay retail at a gallery and production costs are lower than most folks so we want to offer affordable quality art for people who might not otherwise be able to afford it. We also offer giclee prints on canvas to large mural sizes.
We feel we are preserving and promoting the history and culture of Hawaii to Kama'aina, visitors, and other folks at a reasonable price to display or share with others.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE:
e-Bay's transfer process and the computer screen may make the photo look contrasty and slightly darker or lighter, depending on your monitor brightness and contrast settings. The color hues may look slightly different and may have a different tonal range and brightness than you may see on your individual computer screen. Please be aware of this. **When it is attached to the black single mat 8x10" backing board you will be able to see the black board around the margins of the print (as you see here). An 11x14 inch frame (or larger) with a custom cut mat from a frame shop or art store is the suggested way to display this photo. Prints are permanently mounted to the acid free backing board using an archival photo adhesive and cannot be easily removed from the backing board without damaging the photo. If you want to use a larger frame and can't figure out how to do it with the photo mounted on the backing board, contact us and we can explain how it can be done. This is recommended for best visual and artistic impact in displaying this photo, although many people are happy using a standard 8x10 inch frame and displaying the image as is.
