Disneyland 1960 PHOTO Grandma & Sleeping Beauty Castle 5th Anniv Walt Disney
Historic Disneyland Auctions by Saturday's Toys presents...
a rare vintage black & white snapshot from Disneyland....
Grandma is pictured here at the Plaza Hub in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle... with nice composition by the photographer revealing a full-sized castle in the background.  However... this may be the reason that "Keep off the Grass" signs were once a necessity at other public places.  The public's use of similar spaces inside the park led to continued trampling (and subsequent maintenance) and had to be eventually be replaced with flower gardens and cement sidewalks.  This "Plaza Hub" area is now home to a large number of park benches and the Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse statue sculpted by Blaine Gibson:  "Partners"
Photo measures 3.25" x 5.75".  Dated July 1960 (during Disneyland's 5th Anniversary Year). Good condition with signs of wear from handling and long-term storage.
    About Us
    Saturday’s Toys and Disneyana Auctions
was founded in 1994 by Southern California author and Disney historian, Dave Mason. Soon after eBay's launch the following year, Saturday's Toys was among the first Disneyana specialists to strategize in embracing this rapidly developing technology. Having delivered over 10,000 coveted Disney treasures since then, Saturday's Toys is pleased to partner with researchers, collectors and friends throughout the world with a shared interest in the preservation of authentic and accurate Disney history.
Today, online offerings of archival Disneyana keepsakes are presented in celebration of the extended times that allow for family, friends and neighbors to join in memorable gatherings that nurture the strong connections that bind a community together. These treasures are affectionately known as "Saturday's Toys." In that light we present our adopted motto (with a tip of the cap to the Sherman Brothers):
"Oh, let's go fly a kite!"
