Description
This Hong Kong 5 Dollar banknote from 1973 is part of the 1935 - 1983 series. Its obverse side features a seated allegorical woman and the crowned Coat of Arms depicting a unicorn and lion rampant with sailing ship and Chinese junks. The reverse side features the 3rd HSBC headquarters building in Central District, a stripped classical-style building that served as the government headquarters during the Japanese occupation in World War II. A winged female angel with a trumpet is also part of the back design. The note is 142 x 79 mm in size and does not contain any security threads however placing the note under a UV light would reflect a watermark image of a helmeted warriors head in profile and numeric 5.
