--- Born in Honolulu, Cornelia Foley is known for her figure paintings of Hawaiian women in a style much influenced by Diego Rivera. She studied at the University of Washington and at the Slade School in London. She then returned to Hawaii and established a reputation as a painter and printmaker. She is most notable for her figure subjects, especially appealing young Polynesian women. Her paintings suggest voluptuousness and her models are dressed in clinging outfits and placed in floral settings.
