    Description

    Mid 18th c English semi-basket officer’s sword
    Description:
An English (perhaps a dragoon) officer’s saber sword with a characteristic brass semi-basket hilt with a heart pierced lower guard, D-shaped knuckle bow with a pierced “rope-like grooves” faceted S scroll supports, spherical pommel decorated to match, wire bound shagreen grip with a 31 ½” single cutting edge double fullered straight blade. Circa 1750-1760
A stunning French and Indian War and Revolutionary War period sword.
    Condition:
In very fine all original condition, missing the wire on the grip and the lower ferrule not affecting the grip, nothing is loose in this sword, the shagreen is firmly attached so is the blade. Blade has been museum cleaned at some point, overall the sword is in superb shape with a very pleasing patina. A fabulous addition to your F& I and Rev War collection.
