What are the advantages with choosing the Outfitters Supply Modified Decker Setup?
The Decker has a pack saddle cover that lies over the saddle which provides comfort & protection to stock. They have padding & two wooden boards that distribute weight evenly across ribs.
Our Pack Saddle Cover's design makes it versatile for larger, bulkier loads. Panniers can be more comfortably carried by pack stock with a Decker because the bottom of the pannier rests against the pack boards, keeping them further off your horse/mule and distributing the weight of the pannier along the rib cage. The Decker’s
modified hoops
are easier and more convenient to loop & slide ropes through when tying loads down. The modified hoops have a lower profile and are easier for getting large loads closer to your horse's/mule's body where they will ride better. The
rigging buckles
to the tree beneath the pack saddle cover and is
easily adjustable
over a wide range, allowing Pack Cinch to be fitted properly to prevent soring.
Decker Hooks are not recommended with the modified Decker saddle.

Made in our Montana leather shop, it has 24 oz. canvas, reinforced with top-quality latigo leather & stuffed with one inch of synthetic padding to absorb pressure of the load. Edges & arch slots are bound & reinforced with heavy latigo leather for additional durability, and a 1X4 pine bar on each side of the pack saddle cover spreads the weight of the packs across your horse's/mule's ribs.
Trail Max Mesh Pack Saddle Cover Option:
Very lightweight and breathable! Our TrailMax Mesh Pack Saddle Cover has a double layer of tough mesh with padding behind the boards; both materials allow air flow to the your horse or mule. Bound and reinforced with 4-way nylon webbing, while pine boards help distribute the weight of the load. Weighs 5.5 lbs.

19 strand mohair wool blend is soft to the touch, breathable, and dries quickly.
These 7'x8' hemmed canvas manties are used to wrap everything from duffle to bales of hay so that they can be slung on a pack saddle. Can also be used as a tent floor or to cover your saddles in camp.
