Rare 17th-18th C. English Scottish Basket Hilt Broad Sword used through American Revolution. With its very wide early blade maker marked on both to a famous Spanish blacksmiths clan of 17th and 18th century
"ANDREA FERARA". Mounted with a fine shark skin wrapped grip and a large steel basket guard having prominent "S" letters worked into the bars, perhaps denoting the Steward clan or other Jacobite affiliation, other pierced and chiseled fluted decorations. Rare and very battle-worthy example, solid and intact overall.
Overall : 36 1/2" Blade : 31"
