    Description

Original Presentation18th Century European Chiseled Brass Hilt Small Sword
33” Colichemarde blade with light etching. The silverplated brass hilt is chiseled in relief, the pommel, ricasso and guard have multiple piercings and show multiple bugles, drums, violin etc., and all the components are embellished with foliate décor. The grip has brass ferrules with alternating braided wire and washers. The blade is etched with floral sprays, sunburst and geometric shapes and has been polished with scattered light staining, remnants of pitting and softened etching. The hilt shows good traces of original silverplate, and the exposed brass is a bright goldenrod. The sword comes in its original shagreen wrapped scabbard with embellished brass throat and center band, the tip is no longer present. The scabbard remains in fair condition with overall flaking. The rear of the collar is engraved “PERRY. / near Bartletts Buildings / Hellrum”, the last sword has been moderately scratched leaving its validity uncertain and the word will no longer fully fit in the scabbard as it is too tight. A very good European small sword.
