AMERICAN REVOLUTION. Rare Revolutionary War-dated copper-plate hand-colored engraving entitled “Portrait & Uniform of An American General. A Real Representation of the Dress of an American Rifle-Man” engraved by Roberts and printed by Alexander Hogg in London in 1781 to 1783 for Edward Barnard’s “New Complete & Authentic History of England.”
RARE REVOLUTIONARY WAR-DATED HAND-COLORED ENGRAVING DEPICTING CONTINENTAL ARMY GENERALS AND OFFICERS PRINTED IN 1781 TO 1783
A contemporary depiction of Continental Army generals and officers set within a decorative border. Their hats both have the skull and crossbones representing “Death” or “Liberty.” The engraving measures 13.5” by 9”, in near fine condition, nicely matted and framed to an overall size of 21” by 17”, and accompanied with an authentication label on the verso from Kennedy Galleries, Inc., the world’s leading fine prints and paintings company in the early to mid 20th century.
