The Hunting sword or cuttoe was very popular among Gentlemen then officers during the revolutionary War . There are many types pictured in Nuemann's great book " SWORDS AND BLADES OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION " This one is a particularly a good weapon . It is a substantial sword . The hilt is brass mounted with a polished antler grip . It is easy to hold . the blade is pretty hefty and the last 6 " has a back / false edge. This make it easier to stab with . The blade has an overall salt and pepper smooth age patina No designs or makers marks , these seldom had a makers mark. No Scabbard being leather over 250 years has done it's work on that. The overall length is 22 "  with a 16 3/4" blade. A great sword that you can see would be very useful in close quarter fighting  at No Reserve.
