    Description

    An original and historic manuscript request from tax officials of a town in Connecticut, to the State Treasurer to lower taxes for a widow named Elizabeth Selden who has been overcharged. Dated October 30, 1782, and signed by a number of the Town officials, all of whom played important parts in the Revolutionary War, and lived in the Lyme and New London area. Her husband, Samuel Selden Jr. [1723-1776], was Colonel of the 4th Connecticut Continental Regiment. He was captured at the Battle of Kip's Bay in Manhattan, and died in New York as a British prisoner in the infamous Sugar House. Needs further research......
