This is a very rare, UNMOUNTED quality giclee print from an original hand printed silver halide gelatin black and white photograph that was hand colored by our artists,
***with narrow white margin as part of the print (see photo) printed on 8.5 x11 inch
Epson premium glossy paper (see photo) with separate caption sheet, hand color artist credits, and separate photography information of the soda bar of Haleiwa town's Shima's restaurant in the small shopping complex across Kam Hwy from the Waialua Courthouse, in 1978.
This was a favorite early morning local restaurant for many sugar cane workers in the 1950s thru sixties and featured low cost spam and eggs, hotcakes,  great milkshakes, sundaes from the bar, and closed in the early 1990's? At this writing the H.I.C. surf shop is in the location in the middle of Haleiwa town.
Please note:
it is also grainy as it was copied on Velvia transparency film from an original hand colored 35mm black and white print print.
It is still a very nice historic and artistic photo.
It would make a great birthday or holiday gift for someone who may have been here to eat, or likes this area's historic places on the north shore. They are popular reasonably priced decorations for restaurants, offices, homes, or stores where people can see them.

This print was photographed by professional surfing, stock photographer, and master black and white printer Bill Romerhaus, of North Shore Photography, who has been shooting surfing, stock and scenics since 1967. He is one of a very few photographers in the world who specializes in hand printing original black & white waves and surfing. His most recent work has appeared in the  CBS/Eye productions "Hawaii 50", Disney/Dreamworks productions "Fright Night", ABC Television pilot "My Generation", Sony Pictures "Soul Surfer", CBS/Paramount Network TV series "The Cleaner" on A&E Networks, Universal Pictures "Forgetting Sarah Marshall", and Warner Brothers  "The Big Bounce", filmed on the North Shore or on Oahu, providing vintage photos of nostalgia, and surfing for background artwork.  Bill has lived in Hawaii for over 50 years. In 1965 he shot his first surfing photo and was a contributing photographer to 'Surfer', and 'Surfing' magazines, and over 30 international surfing magazines and manufacturers, as a photojournalist for over 100 publications, advertising/stock photo agencies, and corporate clients worldwide.
In 1983, he started NORTH SHORE PHOTOGRAPHY, specializing in black & white darkroom services, after attaining the status as a master black & white printer and film processor for professional clients island wide. His photos have credited him with over 200 cover shots and full page advertisements. His work has appeared in Popular Photography, Shutterbug, American Photographer, Shape, Men's Fitness, Surfing, Surfer, Honolulu, Aloha, Hawaii newspapers, Outdoor, Outside, Conde Nast Traveler, National Enquirer, CNN, Discovery & History Channels, & many others. Professional clients have included American Express, Vogue International, Analog Clothing, Hilton Hotels, Hawaiian Tropic, Hawaiian Airlines, etc.
He was also a contributing photographer for over 40 years to The North Shore News, in Haleiwa Bill now specializes in printing historic and nostalgic images of Hawaii (NOSTALGIC PHOTOS HAWAII) from the thousands of photos he has produced and collected as a professional photographer in the past five decades living in Hawaii and selling his twice award winning photo history book "Haleiwa: A Pictorial History."available at our e-bay store.
