The six year old arrived with her parents on the luxury liner Mariposa
for an 18 day stay, some 10,000 people showed up at the dock on Pier 11, and
she was greeted by Honolulu Sheriff Duke Kahanamoku and other dignitaries
She visited military installations, Waikiki beaches, Iolani Palace, tourist
attractions, and was welcomed by the governor and given a royal treatment by
all of Hawaii’s citizens. She sang "The Good Ship Lollipop" at several
locations on the island and won the hearts of everyone she met. She
monopolized the front pages of the newspapers during her entire three-week
visit.
One persistent rumor was that Shirley was not a child but a 30-year-old
dwarf due in part to her stocky body type. So prevalent were these rumors
that the Vatican dispatched Father Silvio Massante to investigate if she were
indeed a child. Others believed that she wore a wig and other children often
pulled her hair which was real. Her first film was "Heidi" 1937, and followed by
"Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm", Little Miss Broadway", "The Little Princess",
and "Susannah and the Mounties".
She was married twice, and did later films,
some television work and minor guest roles but never retained the worldwide
popularity attained during her childhood roles. In the 1960s she went into
political work, lost at running for senatorial office, was appointed as a
delegate to the United Nations General Assembly and later on ambassador to
Czechoslovakia. The last decade or so of her life she lived in relative obscurity

It makes the print look like there is a margin at the edges of the photo which you can see here.
Prints are permanently mounted to the acid free backing board using an archival photo adhesive and cannot easily be removed from the backing board without damaging the photo. An 11x14 inch frame (or larger) with a custom cut mat from a frame shop or art store is the suggested way to display this photo. If you want to use a larger frame and mat and you can't find an experienced framer who knows how to do it, contact us and we can provide information explaining how it can be done. This is recommended for best visual and artistic impact in displaying this photo, although many people are happy using a standard 8x10" frame and displaying the image as is.  We want to make sure you know exactly what you are buying so we hope our thorough description of these photos will answer all your questions before you purchase.
