    Description

Offered is an upcycled Princo thermometer mounted on a 10" diameter Coolidge brass propeller stamped B7832.  Seattle's Coolidge Propeller Co was begun by Leigh Hill Coolidge (1870-1959), a prolific naval architect and pioneer in the design and machining of high speed propellers for racing hydroplanes.  One of the most well known vessels he designed is the City Light excursion vessel "Alice Ross", which gave its first tour of the Skagit river hydroelectric project on Diablo Lake in 1935.  As of 2018, City Light still offers tours of the Diablo Dam on the Alice Ross IV.   Apparently the Coolidge Propeller Company was subsumed in the late 1980's.  Princo, manufacturer of the antique thermometer, began producing scientific instruments in 1910 and continues today in Langhorne Pennsylvania.  This particular piece is an amalgamation of the products of these two companies and provides a handsome blending of their histories.  This upcycled piece would be a fabulous focal point in a curio or shelf space in a waterfront home.  Measurements are 10" x 10" x 7".  All sales are final; no international sales.
