It is also grainy as it was shot on Ecktachrome transparency film 30
years ago,

, and is still a beautiful historic and artistic image.
The mill was a well known landmark and could be seen from Kaukonahua Road when traveling from Wahiawa. It closed in 1997 when the sugar industry was no longer viable on Oahu
,
and
comes with a separate  detailed caption sheet with the history of the mill. It was featured on the cover of our twice award winning "Haleiwa: A Pictorial History" book available at our e-bay store. This copyrighted 20 x 30 inch unmounted giclee print was shot by professional photographer Bill Romerhaus, of North Shore Photography, who has been shooting surfing and scenics since 1967. This print will fit in a standard 20 x 30 inch frame, although there is a little **extra white margin (not seen on sample) that may need to be custom trimmed to fit your frame. Bill has lived in Hawaii for over 50 years. In 1965 he shot his first surfing photo and was a contributing photographer to over 30 international surfing magazines and manufacturers, as a photojournalist for over 100 publications, advertising/stock photo agencies, and corporate clients worldwide. In 1983, he started NORTH SHORE PHOTOGRAPHY, specializing in black & white darkroom services, after attaining the status as a master black & white printer and film processor for professional clients island wide. His photos have credited him with over 200 cover shots and full page advertisements. His work has appeared in Popular Photography, Shutterbug, American Photographer, Shape, Men's Fitness, Surfing, Surfer, Honolulu, Aloha, Hawaii newspapers, Outdoor, Outside, Conde Nast Traveler, National Enquirer, CNN, Discovery & History Channels, & many others. Professional clients have included American Express, Vogue International, Analog Clothing, Hilton Hotels, Hawaiian Tropic, Hawaiian Airlines, etc.
He was also a contributing photographer for over 40 years to The North Shore News, in Haleiwa.
