This is a nice 20x30 inch giclee photo from, an origi
nal transparency
of a 20 foot Waimea Bay. ***Please note that it is grainy from a 35mm transparency and ***won't look as sharp close up, (see next section details). It is also initialed ('BR') in metallic ink (
which is not on the sample photo here
). Waimea Bay is one the largest surf breaks in the world. It is also home of the Eddie Aikau Memorial Big Wave Surfing contest only held when the waves are at least 25 foot high. It's shorebreak waves are some of the most powerful on earth, generated by far distant North Pacific Ocean storms during the winter months (Sept-March). They are an incredible example of the ocean's mightiness.
This 20 foot high wave is breaking in water only about four feet deep. It has been said that one wave this size if harnessed for energy could provide enough electrical power to light a thousand homes for over an hour. Native Hawaiians, surfers, and a lot of oriental people consider these magnificent waves to be a supreme example of power and manifested with the spirit of mother nature. To actually see these waves breaking along the shoreline is an awesome, humbling, and unforgettable experience.

This copyrighted 20 x 30 inch unmounted giclee print was shot by Hawaii professional photographer Bill Romerhaus, of North Shore Photography, who has been shooting surfing and Hawaiiana since 1967. We are offering these at a wholesale price because our overhead is low, and we want to make them affordable for everyone, its been our business philosophy for years, even though we've often sold custom prints like this for three or four times this price. This print will fit in a standard 20 x 30 inch frame, although there is a little extra white margin that may need to be custom trimmed to fit your frame. For the most impressive artistic impact we suggest using a 40 x 60 inch custom matted frame and also include a caption sheet with photography information for the back of a frame or display of the photo, and separate instructions with suggestions for handling the print and preservation tips.
Bill has lived in Hawaii for over 50 years. In 1965 he shot his first surfing photo and was a contributing photographer to 'Surfer', and 'Surfing' magazines, and over 30 international surfing magazines and manufacturers, as a photojournalist for over 100 publications, advertising/stock photo agencies, and corporate clients worldwide. In 1983, he started NORTH SHORE PHOTOGRAPHY, specializing in black & white darkroom services, after attaining the status as a master black & white printer and film processor for professional clients island wide. His photos have credited him with over 200 cover shots and full page advertisements.
His work has appeared in Popular Photography, Shutterbug, American Photographer, Shape, Men's Fitness, Surfing, Surfer, Honolulu, Aloha, Hawaii newspapers, Outdoor, Outside, Conde Nast Traveler, National Enquirer, CNN, Discovery & History Channels, & many others.
