    Description

    This amazing original print, "Festival of the Sea", was designed for the luxury ship, Lurene, in the 1940's by Ernest Savage. It was not printed until after the war in 1951.
    The frame measures 24.5" x 15.75" and has non-glare glass.
    It was originally framed by the owner in 1970. The matte and backing were redone in December 2020.
    The bamboo-like frame is from 1970, it compliments the composition beautifully.
    Eugene Francis Savage created historical Hawaiian lithographs for the Matson Lines flagship, the S.S. Lurline. This is one of the original lithograph menu covers. The Lurline sailed from Los Angeles and San Francisco to Hawaii until the early 1950's. The menus designed by Savage were discontinued at that time. The American Institute of Graphic Arts awarded
    their highest award to Savage's Menu designs in 1950.
    In 1951, the menu covers were on display at the Smithsonian in Washington D.C.
